With the 2008 Beijing Olympics now over, it is time to look at how our beloved African countries did! 
Altogether africa won 40 medals with Kenya carrying the highest number of medals…It took home 14 medals and other countries that took home medals were Ethiopia which won 7 medals; followed by Zimbabwe and Nigeria which won 4 medals; followed by Algeria and Morocco which both won 2 medals each and finally followed by Tunisia, Cameroon, Sudan, Egypt, Mauritius, Togo and South africa whi... The Africans have shown a very good start at the Beijing Olympics so far with Algerian Soraya Haddad winning a bronze medal for the women’s judo game. Kirsty Coventry also grabbed a silver medal for Zimbabwe at the women’s 400 metres individual medley and there she displayed tremendous talent after being the first person to win a medal for the continent and also to win a medal of any colour on the third day of the Olympics. The Mogadishu Situation

Often when there is a war in Africa, it is always the civilians that get hurt the most. This was the case in Somalia’s ghost town- Mogadishu, which is the capital city. A deadly bomb that was hidden under a pile of rubbish tore this southern part of the town into pieces while killing at least 20 people 10 of who were female street-cleaners.
